Age is not something we were meant to corrupt
We do not need to fallow a step by step book
There is no manual for life or how we ought to act
So just do your thing, and watch how they react
To her childhood filled with bubbles, pancakes and balloons
And music playing with a bucket and some spoons
When you take away the mirror and replace it with the heart
You never grow old, and you never will be pulled apart
She wanted a world where people learned to smile
At themselves because it is so worthwhile
To brush it off your shoulder no matter who they may be
We were not made to be a society
Now remember nothing in life is ever going to be easyBut with just a little wink of childhood, we can let out the crazy
I am not saying things are ever perfect
Far beyond this many times I dont feel worth it
But when I see a child who knows nothing of these days
It reminds me to smile so bright and ablaze
When you take away the mirror and replace it with the heart
You never grow old, and you never will be pulled apart
She never grew up
With a twinkle in her eye
Let go of the serious and
Never say goodbye
When you take away the mirror and replace it with the heart
You never grow old, and you never will be pulled apart

What Inspired this Poem?
This poem was inspired by a close friend of mine who woke up on New Years Day after a long night of watching fireworks. While the entire family was walking around in our sleep, she was jumping for joy for the New Years Day.
She came in at 8am, with
balloons, punching bags, candy, art, and cartoons.
With a hangover, I did not feel like moving off the couch. But, she grabbed me up in my pajamas, and made me dance with her, and be
like a child again.
Being someone with
depression,
it is hard to remember the joy that can come from holidays. But, her bringing in the real New Years joy was something that I am so thankful for, and will always remember.
In just 2 hours, we acted like kids again. A middle aged woman,
she told me she will never grow up, and hope that I don’t either. Happy New Years Day!

Oh we don’t intend to grow up either! The most important thing is to live everyday to the fullest, be it at work or at home!
